Having created the worlds and their deities, He now willed the creation of food from the waters (elements). The first embodied being sought to capture it by his new faculties and their organs, first by speech, then by the breath, then by sight, then by hearing, then by touch, then by thought, then by the procreative impulse, and when all these failed, finally by Apana or Vayu, which succeeded. Thus it is the Apana that supports life through food and nourishment. Finally seeing that the embodied being could not live without Him, and seeing the organs, already assigned with faculties and functions, having already entered the body through the feet, as the Prana or the energising principle that sustains every part of the body, He entered through the (suture ???) of the skull, as the higher consciousness principle and took residence there, in the eye during the waking state, in the inner organ of perception (brain) during the dream state, and in the heart, during the state of deep sleep. Thus manifested, the individual jiva cognizes plural and th monal and the world around as but a projection of the one ultimate undivided unity. This ultimate cognition confers on the jiva the name of Idamdra- the One who has seen all this.
