Having   heard   the   sinless   words   of   the   sage,   the   son   of   the   king,
Rama,   with   folded   hands   and   with   firm   resolve,   said   the
following   in   reply   (1).

I   am   under   the   orders   of   my   high-souled   father   Dasaratha,   issued
in   Ayodhya,   in   the   presence   of   my   preceptors   that   the   instructions
of   Viswamitra   are   to   be   obeyed   without   halting   or   hesitation.
Considering   the   gravity   of   the   paternal   injunction   and   the   need
to   carry   out   filial   orders,   I   am   unable   to   disregard   those
instructions   (2-3).

 Placed   in   such   a   situation,   in   line   with   the   instructions   of   my
father   and   upon   the   words   of   the   realised   soul   (Viswamitra),   I
shall   destroy   Tataka   and   there   is   no   doubt   about   that   (4).

Saying   thus,   that   suppressor   of   foes,   holding   the   middle   portion
of   the   bow   firmly   with   his   (left)   fist,   tied   the   bow-string,
producing   the   sound   which   reverberated   in   and   filled   all quarters   (6).

sound.And   Tataka   was   overcome   with   great   rage   and   was   became

`Lakshmana!   Look   at   the   terrifying   and   dreadful   person   of   the
Yakshini.   The   hearts   of   those   timid   ones   will   break   at   the   very
sight   of   her   (10).
