æúª ô¨ÊçªçȨêùª     Eyes consumed with Grief
(Wasting away of the eyes in separation)

æúªêè몠  these eyes alone
æÙȪôÊ   (now) crying (to show him)
öôäªâæèîùè   for what
êúªìèîåè᪠  this incurable disease (of love sickness)
êèëªæèìªì   having themselves shown (him)
áèëªæúª  ìÊ  I was shown
 


Why should these eyes which first showed me my lord
and filled me with passion, now be filled with tears
at not seeing him (1171).

Why do these eyes that beheld your lover and thoughtlessly brought this suffering on yourself,
now grieve without bearing up ? (1172)

That these very eyes that eagerly sought out your lover should now  be drenched in tears, can only make me smile derisively (1173).

Having awakened love by looking at you, my eyes are now dry, unable to shed more tears in grief (1174).

The eyes which brought on this anguish of love vaster than the sea, are now undergoing unbearable agony i.e.,unable to get sleep (1175) .

The eyes which brought me the anguish of love are now unable to sleep or shed tears. How sweet! (1176)

May these eyes that dwelt on my lord in constant longing, be rendered restless (without sleep) and
sans tears (1177).

Are there people who profess love, but the love is not genuine ? Yet, when I do not see him, my eyes remain sleepless (1178).

When one has eyes like mine, that proclaim everything, like the tom-tom all that is hidden
in my mind soon becomespublic knowledge in
the village (1180).
