êèëªô©ÈªôèõÐ - the one who is loved by his wife
êëªô©Èçª âç÷ª÷ôõÐ - the one who is loved by her husband
âç÷ª÷èõÐ - would have attained

The love that is fully returned by the lover is like
the fruit without a stone (1191).

çáåÐÊ - becoming fruitful

ô©ÈªôèõÐæÐÆ - for the woman who loves him
ô©ÈªôèõÐ - the one who loves her
íó¨æÐÆëª - returning
íó¨ - love
 
The total return of love by the lover is like
the timely rains that sustain all life (1192).

ôèÇåëª öäªÄëª âòÕæÐÆ

ô©ÇåõÐ - husband who loves his wife
ô©Èçª çÌôèõÐæÐÆ - for the loving wife
íéë±ëª - is apposite
Ö - indeed
ôèÇåëª - `we will live happily'
öäªÄëª - this
âòÕæÐÆ - proud thought

Only they can pride themselves of having a full life who get their love returned in equally full measure (1193).

ô©Èçª çìèíõÐ öä¨äª

ô©Èçª çÌôèõÐ - (even) the women who are respected by the chaste
âæÈ©¬á¨ùõÐ - they will be without good fortune

ô©ÈªôèõÐ - by the husbands they love
ô©Èçª çìèíõÐ - will not be loved
öä¨äª - if
 

Even the respect of other women of high character will be of  no value if she is not desired by her husband (1194).

What more can I expect of my lord if he does not love me as much as I love him ? (1195)

¬Õêéù áèÄëª ¬ä¨Ê

øÕêéùáèäª - one-sided
¬äªäèÊ - will give suffering
æèëëª - love
æèçª îçèù - like the `Kavadi'(a device with a pole having equal weight suspended from either end, for carrying things)
¬Õêéù áèÄëª - if it is equal on both sides
¬ä¨Ê - (will give) joy
 

One-sided love will bring distress. Joy arises when love is fully shared, like the pole balanced on one's shoulder by the loads at both its ends (1196).

øÕôõÐæúª å¨äªâ÷èÇÆ ôèäª

çÕôõÙëª - love sickness
éçêÙëª - and suffering
æèúèäªâæèùª does he not understand ?
æèëäª - (cupid) the god of love
øÕôõÐæúª - on the side of one
å¨äª× - stationing
øÇÆ ôèäª - if he would operate
 

Why does not the god of love see my suffering as a result of causing my one-sided love ? (1197)

ôèȪôèõ¨äª ôäªæúèõÐ ¬ùª

ô©Èªôèõ¨äª - of the one whom she loves
¬äªâòèùª - the sweet words of love
âç÷èíÊ - without being the recipient of
ãùæêÐÊ - in this world
ôèȪôèõ¨äª - those who live
ôäªæúèõÐ - bold (hard-hearted)
¬ùª - not

Can there be a woman more hard-hearted than she who is able to live despite not getting even one word of love from her beloved (1198).

¬éò±ëª ¬ä¨á âòô¨æÐÆ

åéò¬áèõÐ - the one who I love
åùªæèõÐ - not love (me)
öä¨Äëª - even if
íôõÐëèìªÌ - in him
¬éò±ëª - the attributes that are in him
¬ä¨á - are sweet
âòô¨æÐÆ - to my ears

Even though my lord does not respond to my love, the attributes in him is sweet to my ears (1199).

ã÷èíõÐæÐÆ ã×îåè᪠ãéõçªçè᪠æìéùòÐ 1200
âò÷èíí᪠ôèȨá â墪à

ã÷èíõÐæÐÆ - to the one who does not have love for you
ã×îåè᪠- the intense love sickness
ãéõçªçè᪠- you lament
æìéù - the sea (it is better)
âò÷èíí᪠- (you) get annoyed with
ôèȨá - hail to you
â墪à - O! Heart!

O heart! Stop lamenting over your love-sickness. It is as futile as trying to battle with the sea (1200).
