íôõÐôá¨äª ô¨Êëªçùª     Yearning to Meet
 

ôèóªí÷ª×çª µ÷ªâæäª÷ æúªÑëª íôõÐâòäª÷  1261
åèóªø÷ª÷¨êÐ îêáªåÐê ô¨õùª

ôèóªí÷ª×   losing their lustre
µ÷ªÆ öäª÷   became slender
æúªÑ몠  eyes
íôõÐâòäª÷   the path he had taken
åèóªø÷ª÷¨   counting the days from that he left
îêáªåÐê   have worn out
ô¨õùª   fingers


My eyes have lost their glow and my fingers have got
worn out marking the days of our separation (1261).

¬ù§ªÆ ¬Èè᪠  O! Bejewelled one !
¬äª×   now
ë÷çªç¨äª   should I forget (my lover)
öäª  my
îêèóªîëùª  æùëª  shoulder armlets
æȨ±ëª   will be loosened
æèõ¨éæ   charm
å©êÐÊ   deserting


O! Bejewelled One! Should I now forget him, my charm
will desert me causing my armlets to slip (due to
thinning of my arms) (1262).

ãõäªåéò¬   going after victory
ãóªó몠  his own ability
Êéúáèæ   depending on
âòäª÷èõР  he left
ôõùªåéò¬   hoping his return
¬äªÄ몠  still
ãîó䪠  I live
 


With his mind set on conquests he left, while I,
with my eyes set on his coming back, live only for
his return (1263).

îæèÌâæèÌ Ö×ëªöäª â墪à

Ôïá æèë몠  with enhanced love
ç¨õ¨åÐêèõР  the one who has left me
ôõ²  will return
ãóªó¨   thinking in my mind
îæèÌâæèÌ   with branches
Ö×ëª   grows
öäª âå¢ªà   (the feelings in) my mind

The thought that he who left me will return with enhanced love, fills me with boundless joy (1264).

婧ªÆëªöäª âëäªî÷èóª çò窵

æèúªæ   may I see
ëäª  How I wish!
âæèúªæéä   my husband
æúªúèõ   to my heart's content
æúªìç¨äª   having seen
婧ªÆ몠  will disappear
öäª âëäªîêèóª   of my slender shoulders
çò窵   the pallor

 

The moment my eyes catch sight of my husband on his return, the paleness of my arms will vanish (1265).

Even if my beloved were to return for just a day, all this love-sickness will vanish (1266) .

When my husband, as precious to me as my eyes, returns,should I quarrel over his absence, embrace
him fondly or do both ? (1267)

ô¨ÕåÐÊ   through hospitality

 
Let my king go to battle and return victorious,
so that I can go home and celebrate (1268).

öÇåèóª   seven (several) days

îòúª   long distance
âòäª÷èõР  the one who has gone
ôÕåèóª   the day of return
éôêÐÊ   thinking in mind
Ö§ªÆçôõÐæÐÆ   for the women anxiously looking forward

When the beloved is away in a distant land, each day
drags on like several days (1269).

What is the use of my return if my bride has died, or is in the point of death because of the grief of separation ? (1270)
