µùªùèÊ   without embracing
¬õè  remaining
íçª µùêÐéê   that way of distancing
íôõÐ   he

íùªùùªîåè᪠  suffering
æèúªæ몠  may I see
ò¨÷¨Ê   a little

Feigning distance fom the lover and the consequent suffering he experiences, may I see a little (1301).

Feigning distance is like the right proportion of salt that adds taste to food. It should not be allowed to be in excess (1302).

íùåÐêèéõ   to the one who is already in suffering
íùªùùª  îåè᪠ compounding the suffering

µùåÐêèéõ   who has feigned indifference
µùªùè  ô¨ìùª  not embracing
 


Denying the embrace after feigning indifference is
like adding insult to injury (1303).

Ãïáôéõ   the one feigning indifference
ãúõèéë   not embracing
ôèïá   withered
ôóªó¨   creeper
Ëêùª   at the root
íõ¨åÐÊ   cut off
í÷ª×   is like

Not to be united with one feigning indifference is
like cutting a fading creeper at the root (1304).

åùêÐêéæ åùªùôõÐ îæöõÐ µùêÐêéæ 1305
·ôäªä æúªúè õæêÐÊ

 
åùêÐêéæ   endowed with good attributes
åùªùôõÐæÐÆ   for the good (lover)
ÖöõÐ   has its own charm
µùêÐêéæ   the height of feigning ( on the part of
·  flower
íäªä   like
æúªúèõР  eyes
íæêÐÊ   rivalling with

Even for the man of virtue, the feigned indifference
of the beautiful- eyed maiden has its own charm (1305).

Ê䨱몠  serious quarrel
µùô¨±ëª   feigned anger
¬ùªÍá¨äª   if not there

æ䨱몠  over-ripe fruit
æÕæÐæè±ëª   unripe
í÷ª×   is like
 


The ups and downs of love are like fruit, sometimes
overripe, sometimes unripe (1306)

Ãìù¨äª   lover's quarrel
ãúªÌ   is
ͧªÆ   there
ØõÐ  one
Êäªç몠  pain
µúõÐôÊ   being together
å©ÌôÊ   will be lasting
íäª×âæèùª   will not be (lasting)
öäª×   thus (apprehension of )

The apprehension whether being together will be lasting or will not be, will bring about pain even when there is a feigned quarrel between lovers (1307).

í÷¨±ëª   one who knows
æèêùõР  lover
¬ùªùè ôȨ   a state where there is none
 


What use is my grieving when my lover does not see
and understand my suffering ? (1308)

å¨ÈùÊ   if it is kept in the shade
¬ä¨îê   is sweet
µùô¨±ëª    1309 feigned quarrel
ô©ÇåõР  with the beloved
æúªîú   in their case also
¬ä¨Ê  will be sweet
 


Just as water is sweet (and refreshing) in the cool shade, feigned reserve has its charms only between lovers (1309).

ÔÌîô몠  be united (with him)
öäªçÊ   such thinking
íôè  (arises out of) desire
 


The thought that one should be united with the one
who has caused sufferings on account of feigned anger arises only out of desire (1310).
