One   who   does   not   preserve   wealth   cannot   get   its   benefit. So   too,   one   cannot   get   the   benefit   of   compassion   if   he consumes   flesh   (252).

Like   the   one   who   wields   a   lethal   weapon,   he   who   relishes
the   taste   of   meat   can   have   no   compassion   (253).

eats   it   will   be   consumed   by   hell   (255).

Trading   in   animal   flesh   will   cease   if   there   is   no   one to   eat   the   meat,   upon   killing   animals   (256).

They   who   have   been   freed   from   ignorance   will   see   meat as   something   taken   from   another   life   (258).

Better   than   a   thousand   offerings   in   the   sacrificial   fire is   to   stop   killing   an   animal   for   its   meat   (259).

worshipped   by   all   living   creatures,   with   folded   palms   (260).
