When I was,
in the days of yore,
ploughing the land for
making a sacrificial
arena, from the tip of
the plough
came out a
girl. She was accepted
by me, when I was
engaged in
cleaning the area for a
sacrificial arena. She
is from that
time onwards reputed as
Sita (14).

that girl, my daughter
grew up gradually.
For this reason
she has been made the
bride-price (for the
valorous one
who would seek her hand)
(15).

kings who had come to
seek her hand, on the
ground that she had to be
won by demonstration of
their valour and ability (17).
