PREVENTIVE MEASURES
To ensure that a normal, healthy child is born, one must take care of the pregnant woman.
Given below are some causes of disability and the preventive methods one may adopt.
 

          Causes   Remedial/ Preventive measures 
Certain illnesses    A pregnant woman must have regular check ups. If she suffers from fever or any other illness,she  must report to the doctor and take advice. This is very important in the earlier months of pregnancy. 
 Injury  A pregnant woman must be  
careful while walking on  
slippery surfaces.She must avoid risky jobs.She must 
not worry or shock. 
Malnutrition   A pregnant woman must eat 
nutritious foods like green leafy vegetables, carrots, fruits,egg,meat and milk.She must take iron tablets and the   
preventive injections  advised by the doctor.  
 
Consuming certain harmful medicines Before taking any medicine, one must seek advice from  a doctor. 
Inducing abortions through herbs,roots. 
 
One must not indulge in  
illegal abortions. Abortions are  legalised anyway. 
X-ray   A pregnant woman must avoid  X-rays. 
Marriage between close relatives Such marriages should be 
avoided. 
Conceiving after 
   35 years 
One must avoid late 
marriage.
